Hey Reader, Feel stuck on that big hairy goal you’ve set for yourself? Maybe someone told you to dream big or go home. You were told that setting very ambitious goals is the only way to succeed. Maybe you’ve read all the books and tried all the strategies. But, you still feel like you are spinning in circles and not making progress. After a long period of feeling demotivated and struggling, maybe you gave up. You’re not alone. Many of us struggle to bridge the gap between what we want and what we do. This week, I want to shift your thinking from goal setting to system building. Think of goals as destinations, exciting places you want to reach. But there is no clear roadmap. Getting there can feel overwhelming. Systems, on the other hand, are the road itself. They are the daily actions you take. These routines guarantee a path to your desired outcome. I was there once. But I figured out what I was missing, instead of focusing on goals (outcome), I decided to focus on the process (systems). I was unemployed twice during the financial crisis. But, I eventually worked with companies such as Google and Meta. I overcame my lack of confidence. Now, I’m a keynote speaker on global stages. And, I’m the healthiest and fittest I’ve ever been. βIn my latest video, I dive deep into this idea. It’s about the one habit that changed my life. I decided to focus on systems, not goals. James Clear, author of the phenomenal “Atomic Habits,” sums it up perfectly: “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” Here are 5 steps to designing and building your systems in life:1. Who Do You Want To Be? – Shift Your Identity and Beliefs:
2. Find Your “Why” – How to Stay Motivated:
3. Learn from the Best – Success Leaves Clues:
4. Plan for Action – Be Specific to Stay Consistent:
5. Continuous Improvement – Embrace the Feedback Loop:
Upgrade Your Life and Systems:It’s time to focus more on the process of becoming you, rather than the end goal. This helped me focus on what’s most important in my life to help me move forward. If nothing changes, then nothing changes. But, if you design better systems, you can improve your life and become unrecognizable.
