Have you ever been stuck in a job, project or business you don’t love? Dreading Mondays instead of embracing them? Or just not sure what is your calling and next step in your journey? You’re not alone. Statistics show a staggering number of people lack engagement or satisfaction in their careers and purpose in life. I’ve been there myself. When I started my first job after university, I suffered from Sunday evening blues. Another week of dissatisfaction with my own path loomed over me. But then I found about this concept called ikigai. It’s a Japanese philosophy that translates to “a reason for being.” Ikigai is more than just a job. It’s about finding work that matches your passions, skills, and the world’s needs. You can do this exercise in less than 15 minutes. It can help guide you to your purpose and to something that lights you up each morning. I truly believe this changed the start of my personal growth journey. I found my own ikigai before going all in to pursue it. Here’s how Ikigai can help you find your purpose:Ikigai is visualized by four overlapping circles.
Find your ikigai:Consider these questions for each circle, and in the ones left, you’ve found an aligned area. Focus on strengthening these areas in your next step either in pursuing a new career, business idea or taking on a new project. Remember, your ikigai is uniquely yours. And there is always something in this world that only you can provide. This is your unfair advantage to pursue and go all in. What did you find? Feel free to reply to this email and share it with me. Many of you have told me that it’s getting hard to focus on what matters. Here is my experience with this new way of working. It can help you work better and smarter.
