Lessons from 38 Years of Life

I turned 38 this year. Every year I make it a habit to reflect on my life and business lessons. I want to share these with you because they helped and guided me through the ups and downs.

Each lesson helped to kickstart my growth as a professional, entrepreneur, and become a better individual.

1. Love the Dirt

Don’t forget where you came from, the initial spark and passion that got you started.

The small things, the dirty work that didn’t scale were the things that moved the needle.

If you don’t spend time on details to go the extra mile, test, and learn from what is winning, you’ll never last.

(Taylor Swift does this so well with her fans, in the video, you can see a snippet of the surprises delivered to her fans over the years to become one of the most successful female artists of all time).

2.Your Luck Surface Area

Luck = Doing x Telling

In modern marketing, the best way to increase your luck is to build a personal brand.
​
Because the more people you tell about your passion, the higher the odds that luck or opportunities will find you.

3. Design Your Life with Intention

Instead of being driven by money and status, ask yourself what does your ideal life looks like.

Working backward will help you find your Northstar to build a life with intention and only do work that lights you up.

4. Speed Up Idea to Execution

Ideas are cheap, but execution makes it real.

You’ll need to shorten that time between having an idea to actually doing it.

Instead of letting it ruminate in your head, send that email, make that call, write your pitch, go to that event, and make that content.

5. Love the Process

In the real world, progress changes from day to day, there will be good days and bad days.

Learning a new skill or starting a business is not a straightforward path, when you enjoy the process, you will outlast so many others who only want the result.
