The more I’m asked about this question on how to successfully market a service business, a project, side hustle, digital products, the more that I find myself being truly honest about what worked for me and what didn’t.
Despite that we now have so many digital platforms and technologies at our fingertips, the human nature of how we do business haven’t changed.
People will always seek out businesses and others they know, like and trust.
Constantly selling without any kind of trust building is just not going to work.
In the early years of running a business, I used to make the classic mistake of only reaching out to my audiences when I had something to sell, but didn’t show up with the right intentions.
And I’m brutally honest that it’s hard for most people to resist the temptation to constantly monetize what they’ve built, at the risk of jeopardizing that trust too early on in the process.
It’s great to earn a living for the impact we can provide in the world but at the same it’s about doing it in an authentic way that feels natural to us.I reflected on what worked for me and my clients so far and summarized into 5 principles that can help to market any business effectively in 2022 and beyond, without being salesy.
After all, these are timeless and doesn’t rely on a specific technology or platform.
And remember, you are the secret sauce.
In a noisy and competitive world, we should put our own unique flavour on what we can deliver to our communities and audiences, and cherish the personal stories and values that only we can provide.
Hope you find these helpful in putting your thinking hat 🎩 on.
To your success,
Laurie 🙌
