What is a Content Strategy?
Content strategy is creating a content marketing plan for your content, whether it can be in audio like podcast, visual formats like a video on YouTube or images on Instagram photos, or written like blog posts on your website, to attract and engage with audiences in order to grow your business in terms of sales and leads by offering useful information to others.
Content Pillars or Themes
Your content pillars or themes are essentially the main areas of topics that you will be talking about in your content. In my own business as a marketing strategist, I mainly talk about business growth, marketing, and mindset which resonates with my own audiences who may be entrepreneurs, freelancers, and business owners themselves.
Decided on the Content Format and Frequency
In your content marketing plan, you should also decide on what type of content format you will create and how frequently you will be posting on the various social media channels to distribute your content.
Promotion for Your Content
My main rule is to aim for 80/20 rule when it comes to creating content and promoting the content to get more visibility across the various distribution channels. Although you may have created a great piece of content, what’s the point if no one actually get to see it? So, ideally work out a checklist of promotion activities to share with your online audiences once a new piece of content is created.
